The project

To meet new seismic standards, many buildings deemed essential in an emergency — hospitals, police stations, fire halls, drinking water plants — must be reinforced against earthquakes.

We completed the second phase of the work at Québec City's drinking water treatment plant; the first phase had been done a few years earlier.

Technical challenges

First challenge: material handling. We removed an existing window to create an opening and bring in the trusses and struts.

Second challenge: working above water-filled basins. We built a floating platform to install the steel, applying every safety measure required for water rescue and prevention.
