The project

The stair at Star Bédard's main entrance has a truly unique design: after the first landing, the flight splits into two identical flights forming an ellipse, closed by the upper landing.

Round tube railings emphasize the elliptical shape.

Technical challenges

Feature stairs are almost entirely fabricated and assembled in the shop before being taken apart or cut for delivery: shop labour is a large share of the budget.

Both upper flights had to be perfectly identical to honour the design. The same precision was applied to the railings to follow the exact curve of the stringers.
